It is a work health and safety requirement that you wear fully-enclosed, non-slip shoes during practical classes and while attending work placement.
Work placement is mandatory for CHC33015. You are required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in a residential aged care facility, as arranged by Smart Nation Education. Your placement will commence after you have successfully completed the written assessments for each unit of competency. You will be expected to work the shifts scheduled by the facility, including mornings (from 6am) and evenings (finishing at 11pm), between Monday and Friday.
You are expected to have strategies in place to manage your work, family and other commitments during your work placement. Where possible, Smart Nation Education will ensure the work placement venue is within easy access of your home; however, you may be required to attend a facility that is outside your local area and this may include school holiday dates.
During your work placement, your Smart Nation Education trainer will continue to assess your ability to apply the knowledge you learnt during the training. If your performance is unsatisfactory, your result will be Not yet competent for the relevant unit/s of competency.
Mandatory work placement documentation
Smart Nation Education must ensure you hold the following documentation within two weeks after your enrolment:

The certificate MUST be issued by the Australian Federal Police – all other types of police checks will not be accepted.
Smart Nation Education recommends that you consider your eligibility to obtain the AFP Clearance before you enrol in any health or community services course.
Smart Nation Education also recommends that, since you are seeking employment in personal care, you are immunised against Hepatitis B.
